AZAM midfielder Patrick Mutesa Mafisango has asked head Coach Sellas Tetteh to help revive his Amavubi career.

The former national team captain has not been considered by Tetteh since May when he rejected a call up to the team ahead of the decisive 2011 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Tanzania in Kigali.

Despite his vast experience, the center-back was left out of Rwanda’s opening 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Benin. And more recently, he was overlooked for the on-going Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup prompting speculation that his national team career may be over.

But while speaking to Times Sport yesterday, the former APR and Atraco player remained optimistic about a return to the side.

Early this week, Mafisango had showdown talks with Tetteh and believes the Ghanaian will re-open the door for him.

"I have no one to blame but me for whatever has transpired since May and I have paid the price,” he said, adding, " I have apologized to the coach and I also want to apologize to the fans for being selfish.”

"Rwanda has been a springboard for my career and the least I can do is play to the best of my ability every time I wear those national colours,” a remorseful Mafisango said.
Tetteh says that his decision will depend on his technical staff and the local football governing body (Ferwafa).

Mafisango wants to feature in Rwanda’s remaining 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifying fixtures.
