IT was revealed this week by the office of Ombudsman that the fight against corruption in high leadership organs had registered great progress, but the vice is still rampant at the lower administrative levels.

This is bad news. I think all of us must stand up and fight corruption at all levels. Corruption is a cancer that can destroy societal fabric if not fought collectively. Local leaders from all village levels must sensitize members of their respective areas, explaining the dangers of condoning corruption. Rwanda has won global accolades because of her zero tolerance on corruption.

We should keep the flame burning because Rwanda’s transformation strategy for the last sixteen years, is based on her unrelenting effort in the fight against corruption.

The challenge we have is to sensitise the population so that they are ready to resist corruption. People need to come out and say no to corruption. And whistle blowers should be encouraged to expose corrupt officials.
