GATSIBO – Plan Rwanda has completed the construction of a modern health centre, worth over Rwf1.1 billion in Kabarore Sector, Gatsibo District.
The Mayor of the District, Anselm Rurangwa Majoro, told The New Times that the completion of the health facility was timely, since Kabarore residents had no major health facility.
"This modern heath centre will serve a big population,” he said, adding that the only health centre in Kabarore is too small, and patients are always congested.
Maria Mutungi, 56, a resident of Kaborore Sector, stressed the importance of the health centre.
"If all NGOs and other developers focused on basic infrastructure, we would address major problems facing our communities,” she said.
John Karekezi, 47, another resident, said that the old health centre provided good services, but its staff was always overwhelmed. He, however, warned of the problem of adequate health staff.
"We get many health services, including HIV testing and antiretroviral drugs. We are happy that this big building will give us access to more health services. Our challenge, however, remains few medical personnel,” he said.
