THE national U-15 boys’ cricket team will open their ICC East Africa U-15 championship campaign this Friday against Chairman’s XI, one of two sides fielded by the host nation Uganda.

The team arrived in Kampala yesterday and the president of the Rwanda Cricket Council Charles Haba is fronting the team to improve on last year’s 3rd spot finish.

"They have had thorough preparations this time round and they got some expert training from the senior national team coach Adam Arnolds,” Haba said.

The team, which has been sponsored by Uganda’s independent magazine, is composed of players who featured in this year’s Caisse Sociale Schools’ cricket tournament. On top of last year’s entrants Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Seychelles is expected to make her debut in the five-day regional event which will be staged at three venues; Lugogo, Kyambogo and Kings College Buddo.
