As competition in the telecom industry stiffens, the three mobile operators have rushed to introduce new promotions to protect and attract new subscribers as the festive season closes in.

In their promotion dubbed ‘Xmas Drive’, Rwandatel has introduced a newbonus promotion for its prepaid mobile users based on recharge.

A customer receives a 50percent bonus airtime based on the value of the amount they have purchased.
According to Cleophas Kabasiita, Rwandatel’s Corporate Communications Manager, the company is rolling out the promotion to allow its customers to plan and enjoy the festive season.

"With this 50percent bonus, they can make phone calls to plan for their Christmas holiday with ease and without having to worry about the cost of calls,”Kabasiita said.

She also noted that the promotion is a "Christmas offer” expiring December 31st.

Last week, Tigo reintroduced its Rwf10/min calling tariff saying that the promotion was re-launched as a "Christmas gift” to their clients.

The operator is also currently running other promotions like, ‘SMS happy hour’ were Tigo subscribers enjoy free SMS from 6pm to 7pm between Tigo-Tigo.

Their customers are also enjoying 50 percent off after the 2nd minute on all calls within the East African region.
MTN Rwanda, the largest operator by market share is offering a 70 percent discount on all MTN to MTN calls and bonus up to 30 percent on loaded airtime.
