Last week, Rwamakondera—a children’s dance troupe attached to Ivuka Arts, left for the UK, for a two-week visit, where they are expected to stage various performances.
They will also perform jointly with UK children on stage, with the aim of bringing the two cultures together.
Rwamakondera was in 2009, selected by Mundial Productions based in Tilburg, Holland, to represent Africa during the World Children Festival dubbed ‘Via Del Mondo’.
The Rwandan young stars zipped out different Rwandan traditional dances and scooped the best position amongst the participating groups.
Initiated by the founder of Ivuka Arts, Collin Sekajugo, Rwamakondera was founded on the belief that every child – not least the voiceless and under-represented – has an important message to share with the community.
