RUBAVU - Preparations are underway to elect the new national representatives of the Private Sector Federation in the Western Province.

The nationwide election for local committee members is an initiative by the federation meant to ensure that the private sector is represented at all leadership levels.

"It is supposed to be a three-year mandate and we expect the new district and provincial committees to continue with PSF programmes and train people in their business activities,” said Damien Bazimaziki, the Rubavu District resident accountant.

He praised the outgoing committee for managing to solve and minimize commercial disputes among business communities, conducting mini-expos and training members of the business community.

According to PSF objectives, private sector businesses should be protected and represent their interest in both Rwanda and abroad.

"Every district will be represented by ten members at the provincial level out of which the leadership committee will be elected,” added Bazimaziki.

The elective positions that are up for grabs at the province level include that of the president, the first vice president, second vice president, while district presidents will be the administrative advisors.

However, for one to qualify to vote one must be a proprietor of a business, possess a commercial statute and be a Director General in case he represents a certain organisation.
