Rwanda’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Ignatius Kamali Karegesa, has urged Rwandan children living in the country to work hard for the future of their mother nation.
Karegesa made the call, last Saturday while officiating at celebrations to mark this year’s ‘Family Day,’ organised by the Rwandan Diaspora in South Africa in partnership with the High Commission.

Family Day is an annual event which brings together Rwandans, both workers and Students, before they break for year-end holidays, as some of them prepare to travel home for the festive season.

Karegesa, who wished the children, parents and friends who attended the event a Merry Christmas, thanked the Rwandan Community in South Africa for their active participation in Rwandan events and urged them to maintain the nationalistic spirit.

The fun and joyful occasion also saw all those who won in various competitive games, including singing, dancing, rope pulling and a race between parents and children with tied legs, awarded.

The event also included quiz games focusing on general knowledge, African geography and entertainment.
