THE race to host next year’s Senior Cecafa Challenge Cup has been narrowed down to Rwanda and Uganda.
According to Cecafa’s Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, a decision will be made later this week.

"Talks are on-going with our sponsor East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) and we shall announce next year’s host before the end of the week,” the official said.

While Rwanda has only hosted the competition twice (1999 and 2005) since 1973, Uganda has staged the regional showpiece seven times; 1973, 1982, 1984, 1991, 1995, 2000 and 2008.

Kenya was given hosting rights for the Cecafa U-17 championship while Zanzibar will host the lucrative Cecafa/Kagame club championship.

Meanwhile, the annual affiliation fee for Cecafa members has been increased from $1000 to $ 1500.
