RAYON Sport’s trophy drought could soon be a thing of the past after local media mogul Albert Rudatsimburwa finalized a 5-year deal with Rayon Sport’s management to take over the club.

Talking to Times Sport yesterday, Rudasimburwa said that it is a new era for the club that has been marred by financial difficulties in recent years.
"What I can tell you is that I’m already in business. I have assumed total control of the club. I will definitely make some changes in both management and administration,” Rudatsimburwa, who is the majority shareholder of Contact FM, said.

Former Coach Raoul Shungu, who was recently sacked by Congolese club Vita Club is expected to make a u-turn to the Blues; one of the many changes Rudatsimburwa is eyeing in a bid to steer the club back to its glory days.

"We want a top quality team and that necessities a high level coach which is why we want Shungu to come back. I also want to improve the players’ welfare and that means paying them promptly,” Rudatsimburwa said.

Despite enjoying a lion’s share of the country’s fan base, the Blues have not had much success in recent years. The club has not won a trophy since 2005.
Rudatsimburwa will be officially unveiled to the club fans next month.
