Rwanda’s remaining flag bearer in the Tusker Project Fame season four defeated the odds to make it to the final week of the East Africa’s premier music competition on December 5.

Gaelle Atete managed to beat Sudan’s super talented black beauty Paleki to the fans vote in what was a shocking end to a difficult eviction night.

The Rwandan belle managed to hold herself together with a difficult song of Brenda Fassie’s ‘Vulindlela’ to survive the wrath of the bold and straight talking Judge Ian.

"Gorgeous, slight improvement – 2%,” is all Judge Ian could conjure of her efforts. However, the fans’ votes still saved her at the expense of Paleki.

The princess of probation, who admitted that her predominant presence on the probation list had kept her hands full, so much so that she had avoided the bite of rampant love bug in the house the reason, gets the chance to see herself in the house for the last week.

Paleki, the remaining representative from Southern Sudan in the competition bowed out along with the dreams of many country mates, who hoped that the bold and talented songstress would make the soon-to-be independent country proud.

The judges blamed her plight on her weakening performance Kayango Kasanga Zilopendwa’s ‘Karubandika’ hit. They even alluded to the fact that she had lost momentum from her starting position in the academy as an outright favorite to mediocrity.  

Steven’s lady charm and exuberant style got the fans to put him in a safe corner, with majority votes while his comrade-in-arms Msechu managed to placate his comic self to win the faculty’s favour because of his good performance, vocal ability and strength.

The race in the final week now goes down to the competition between the indomitable Ugandan pair of Davis and Rachael which has gone through the season without tasting probation, the lone Tanzanian Msechu, Steven and Ameliina from Kenya and our own  Gaelle.

On Saturday, one contestant will be the last contestant to be evicted before the final five tussle it out for TPF4’s top cash prize Ksh5 million (about Rwf 35 million) in addition to other grants.

The voting trends strongly suggest the top prize will either stay in Kenya or go to Uganda, if Gaelle does not shock her critics to wrest the prize from her compatriots.

On other flips, Saturday’s dramatic night provided the laughs by the witty and funny barbs of Dr. Mitch, who said that when he compares judges to cars, Judge Ian reminds him of a wheel barrow.

The impromptu appearance of last year’s runner up Ngangalito also provided the other highlight on the show.
