NYAMASHEKE - A demobilised soldiers’ co-operative, KOPAINYA in Nyamasheke District, on Wednesday donated 90 cattle to its members.

The donation was handed over during celebrations of the cooperative’s achievements.

The co-operative was started in 2004, by 35 demobilised soldiers.

"We wanted to do something that would benefit us as demobilised soldiers as well as provide the kind of good life we would like to live,” said Jean Mutimukwe, the president of the co-operative.

Mutimukwe added that the co-operative has various poverty eradication initiatives, including giving goats to its members.

Nyamasheke Mayor, Jean Baptiste Habyarimana, promised to support the co-operative, saying that it had set a good example.

The district donated an exotic bull that will help the members to get hybrids and a computer for record keeping.
