Dear Editor,
We respond to a letter that appeared in The New Times of Saturday 20th November 2010 from Wahu Kagiri seeking an explanation on our Me2U service.
MTN Me2U service is a product which is designed to allow our customers the freedom to send airtime to another MTN customer.
In order to protect our customers from possible abuse of this service by a third party who may want to send airtime to their own phone number, MTN put a limit to the amount that can be sent at any one time and a limit on how many times a day this service can be accessible. Our decision to introduce these limits was driven from feedback we got from customers who had fallen victims of unauthorised transfers from their airtime.
MTN does appreciate that there will always be need for some customers to send larger amounts and to more people. To do this we would like to inform our customers to go to any of our services centres or airtime vendors who have the Virtual Top Up (VTU) facility that allows them to send larger amounts of airtime to an unlimited number of MTN customers.
MTN would like to thank Wahu Kagiri for seeking this clarification and for using the MTN network.
