Dear Editor,
I am writing in reference to the letter that appeared in The New Times of 23rd November 2010, in which one customer expressed his concern about the power interruption which occurred last week. We really understand the concern and apologize for the inconveniences caused by the power cut which affect his businesses.
As this situation was explained during the press conference, announcements, TV and radios show as well as in the news papers; these interruptions occurred due to the sources of power from Interconnection between D.R Congo, Burundi and Rwanda commonly known as SINELAC.
As a solution, The Rwanda Electricity Corporation (RECO) took the option to isolate this line from the main network to avoid the instantaneous interruptions while rehabilitation work is still ongoing.
Other planned power cuts occurred due to rehabilitation work on Mukungwa and Gisenyi Power plants, and customers were informed two days before the rehabilitation exercise.
We take this opportunity to inform our customers that, when there is a planned interruption due to maintenance works, RECO always informs its esteemed customers when the work is due to start and how long the power disconnection will take to avoid any inconvenience to their business.
In addition, we would like to remind our customers that our call center Toll free line is operational every day on the number 3535, and suggestions about our service are always welcome.
The Management of RECO takes again this opportunity to express its regrets for all inconveniences caused and also thank customers for their patience.
