KARONGI - The Minister of Youth, Protais Mitali, has warned the youth in Karongi District against sexual relationships with older men or women, warning that it would ruin their future.

Mitali made the call recently while meeting youth and local leaders As young people, you ought to avoid sexual relationships with sugar daddies and sugar mummies in order to lead better lives. They do nothing but to destroy your future,” Mitali told thousands of youth who had turned up for the meeting.

The Minister went on to challenge them to work hard collectively to improve their economic status and desist from depending on older sexual partners for survival.

"You, the young generation, are the future leaders of this country. You should avoid wasting your lives,” he said.
Mitali hailed the local leadership of the district for initiating various projects to help improve the social and economic status of the youth.

The Mayor of Karongi, Bernard Kayumba, explained that the district administration plans to do even more because the youth are the most productive age group of the nation.

"A series of sensitisation workshops for the youth about job creation and self dependence are underway throughout the district, and we have encouraged them to form co-peratives as a way of improving their economic standing,” Kayumba said.
