The Minister for Trade and Industry, Monique Nsanzabaganwa has called on the business community to invest in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) since they are drivers for the country’s economic development.

She made the call during the cerebration to mark ‘Africa’s Industry Day’ in Gasabo District, and event held at BN Producers, a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) industry that deals in Mushroom and banana products, including flour and wine.

"The Business community should put more effort in the SMEs as it’s the engine of the economy,” Nsanzabaganwa said, adding that the government will back them up with funds and training will be provided.

The African Industry day is celebrated annually on November, 20. "We need our small industry to be able to compete with the regional industries by adding value to anything they produce which will bring sustainable development,” the Minister pointed out.

Berthilde Niyibaho from BN Producers, urged the government to keep up the support rendered to SME’s

"This (BN) is a small factory but with a huge potential to supply both the domestic market and the region. We ask the government to give us any support they can so as to add more value to what we produce,” she said.
BN Producers started four years ago.
