Saturday, November 20, capped an unfortunate streak of bad luck for Rwanda in the Tusker Project Fame season 4, as the second representative got the axe, reducing the chances on jackpot returning to Rwanda for the second year running.
The 21-year-old Computer Science student at ULK, Gilbert Gabiro, and the mild mannered Rwandan, lost out to fellow Rwandan contestant, Gaelle Atete, in a surprise change of the rules that saw the evictee being chosen on the basis of popularity by fans vote.
On the other hand, Sudan’s Paleki was saved by the fans, while Kenya’s Amileeena topped the fan’s tally of votes.
However, it was good news for the now perennial member of the probation list Gaelle, when the academy decided to chose the evictee no based on the contestants vote but on the least voted contestants.
Gabiro, who has come under fire from the judges, especially Judge Ian will take a break from the competition barely a week after another Rwandan Gaga made her exit from the academy.
Rwanda’s hopes now remain with Gaelle who has faced arguably the most based criticism from Judge Ian but has instead retained vastly support of the academy’s fans.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the formidable Ugandan contingent of Davis and Racheal still remains steadfast against Kenya’s contingent of Steve and Amileena and Tanzania’s Peter Msechu among others while Sudan’s Paleki and Rwanda’s Gabiro will battle it alone for their respective countries.
The game is getting tougher, as contestants eyeing the bounty begin to out elbow each other based on the competition.
