AFTER being held to a goalless draw last week, Rwanda’s U-17 team; the junior wasps recorded a 1-0 win over Tunisia’s US Monastir in Tunis. Nicole Mahoro scored the lone goal to boast the side ahead of January’s Africa Youth Championship in Rwanda.
The youngsters still have to play three more players before heading back on December 15.
Meanwhile, Mali secured their ticket after yesterday’s 3-0 win over Cameroon in Bamako.
The Eaglets advanced 4-0 on aggregate after registering a lone goal over the Indomitable Cubs in the first leg held in Yaoundé a fortnight ago. Mali, who reached the final in 1997, headed into the tie in a commanding position and they did not disappoint.
They are the third team to qualify after hosts Rwanda and Egypt.The tournament will run from January 7-22.
