RCA to name U-15 team

THE National Under-15 boys’ cricket team is under-going intensive training at Kicukiro ahead of the 9th edition of the ICC East Africa regional cricket tournament slated to run from December 2-6 in Kampala, Uganda. The provisional 25-man team has been training for the last three weeks and the local cricket governing body (RCA) Secretary General Emmanuel Byiringiro has revealed that the final 14 will be named early this week.

THE National Under-15 boys’ cricket team is under-going intensive training at Kicukiro ahead of the 9th edition of the ICC East Africa regional cricket tournament slated to run from December 2-6 in Kampala, Uganda.

The provisional 25-man team has been training for the last three weeks and the local cricket governing body (RCA) Secretary General Emmanuel Byiringiro has revealed that the final 14 will be named early this week.

"We have given everyone a chance to impress and believe it is time to name the final squad,” Byiringiro said, adding, "The boys will continue non residential training until their departure on November 30.”

Byiringiro is optimistic that the team can put in a much improved performance this time round. "We didn’t have good structures then but our team is now capable of decent results.”

Besides Rwanda; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Seychelles are the other teams in contention.

Meanwhile, the national U-19 women cricket team is also preparing to take part in the ACA East Africa U-19 tournament that runs from November 30 – 4 December.
