Stage 4

Rubavu –Kigali (158km)

ADRIEN Niyonshuti claimed the yellow jersey after finishing third in yesterday’s grueling 148km (Kigali –Rubavu) Tour of Rwanda stage 3.

The MTN Energade rider defied heavy rain to finish two micro seconds behind stage winner Dan Craven from Namibia. This was enough to take him atop the general classification table.

Other Team Rwanda riders in the top 25 include Nathan Byukusenge (16th) and Gasore Hategeka (24th).
Last year’s winner Adil Jelloul of Morocco is in 8th place.
Niyonshuti also claimed his third blue jersey of the tour after turning out to be the best Rwandan in yesterday’s stage.

Craven won the red jersey for combativity while Natnael Teweldemedhin of Eritrea went home with the orange jersey (best mountain climber).
Eight cyclists including Nicodem Habiyambere pulled out yesterday.

Today, stage four will see riders heading back to Kigali.
