BOTSWANA beat Tunisia 1-0 on Wednesday to move a step nearer to a maiden African Cup of Nations appearance.
Jerome Ramatlhakwana scored the all-important goal in Gaborone as the Zebras tightened their grip on Group K.

The win took Botswana’s points tally to 13 from five matches - six clear of Tunisia who remain in second place.
In the day’s other Group K game, Togo were held to a 0-0 draw by Chad in Lome - a result which leaves both teams with little hope of qualifying.

Botswana coach Stanley Tshosane has set the team a target of 15 points to ensure qualification for the 2012 finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

The Carthage Eagles arrived in Gaborone on a mission to avenge the 1-0 defeat they suffered when the two sides met in their opening group match in July.

But Ramatlhakwana’s strike at the University of Botswana ground - where the Zebras have yet to lose a match - ensured a remarkable double for the southern African nation over the former African champions.

Botswana has never been to the Nations Cup finals before but victory in their next game, against Chad in March, will seal their place in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon 2012.
