KARONGI - Church leaders in the country have been called upon to embrace family building as a way of helping to establish a purpose-driven nation.
The call was made by the Bishop of Cyangugu Catholic Diocese, Geoffrey Rwabusisi, while officiating at the closure of a three-day annual retreat that brought together
senior church leaders and their spouses in Karongi District.
Rwabusisi reminded the couples to support each other while practicing what they preach.
"As much as our families are the foundation of the church, they are also the major foundations establishing a purpose-driven nation,” he said.
The retreat jointly organised by the Rwanda Purpose-Driven Ministries and Pastor Rick Warren’s California-based Saddleback Church, attracted over 30 senior church leaders and their spouses.
The outgoing Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, the Right Reverend Emmanuel Kolini, observed that families ought to be stronger and more united.
"The downfall of mankind in the Garden of Eden began with a family, and it is from the same family where we should start while seeking solutions to acquire everlasting life,” he said.
