Fifa international friendly (Today)

DRC     vs Mali
Egypt   vs Australia
Poland  vs Ivory Coast
S.Africa  vs USA
N. Ireland vs Morocco

THIS afternoon, Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars will line up against Malawi in Blantyre for a Fifa international friendly match.

The match which will be played at Giant Kamuzu Stadium is a good test for both teams ahead of this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup and next year’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) for Rwanda.

Back to full fitness after a career threatening ankle injury, Mbuyu Twite a.k.a Eric Gasana is expected to provide stability at the back. Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh is also likely to deploy the creative Louis Aniweta (the only professional in the side) just behind the strikers to try and create scoring opportunities.

Before the team flew out to Malawi, Tetteh said, "It is a great opportunity for the players to fight for their places in the upcoming Challenge Cup.”

"I expect everyone to give their best because this game will have a huge bearing on who gets to play in Tanzania.”
After back to back defeats last year, Tetteh is hoping his wasps will rise up to the occasion against the flames, who are ranked 84th in the world, a whole 34 places above Rwanda.

APR pair Victor Nyirenda and Elvis Kafoteka is expected to play some part in the friendly.

Probable starting line-up: JL Ndayishimiye, C. Mukunzi, A. Ngabo, D. Kapet, E. Gasana, JB. Mugiraneza, H. Niyonzima, JC Iranzi, L. Aniweta, A. Kipson and D. Birori
