Unknown people on Monday attacked an employee of Oblates de la’sso Mission, a Catholic Church organisation which constructs private schools in the country, and went away with Rwf1.2m

It is alleged that the thugs, who are still at large attacked Sister Marie Teresa Ingabire, a nun who is Oblates de la’sso Mission’s Director of Finance, at their premises in Kacyiru, Gasabo District.

They tied her up with a sweater before taking off with the money. The money was part of funds meant to buy construction materials for a technical school in Icungo, Murehe Catholic Parish in Rulindo District.

The organisation is also currently building a nursery school in Rukomo, Nyagatare District. Police Spokesperson, Supt. Eric Kayiranga who confirmed the incident, said that investigations are still ongoing to apprehend the criminals.

However, police handling the case said that up to now they have failed to get evidence showing that Sr. Ingabire was really attacked and left tied before the thieves took the money.

"There is no evidence of whatever, she told us her version of the story but we are still investigating,” a source said.
Kayiranga, warned all those who keep big sums of money and other valuable items in the house saying that "they expose themselves to danger”.

In other separate incidents, Police in Busoro, Huye District on Monday arrested 30-year old Marcel Ncamubanzi after he was found with a bag full of marijuana.

In Bugeshi Sector of Rubavu District, Assuman Hakizimana, 30, was also arrested on the same day, as he tried to smuggle bags of fertilisers meant for farmers to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
