Singer Innocent Rugamba ranks among top upcoming gospel artists in the country.

Born in 1984, Rugamba realised his music talent at an early age, while in Primary school.

"I used to listen to the music since I was a kid. I remember at school [Gihogwe P.S], pupils in my class used to request me to sing for them,” Rugamba recalls.

The 26-year-old attributes success in music, to his Primary teacher, Agnes Mukakabera Kabera, who used to encourage him to sing.

"At that time, I used to mime Cécile Kayirebwa and Cyprien Rugamba’s songs, and my teacher Mukakabera, liked the vocals,” Rugamba added.

With the help of his Secondary school teacher, Wabahenya Shaban, Rugamba wrote his debut single ‘Turi umwe” and it was voted the best song in ‘Eucumenisme’ in Unity and Reconciliation.

Some of Rugamba’s songs include: "Uri lmana Yanjye, ‘Mwuka Wera’, ‘Ntibaguteshe Umwanya’, ‘Ruhuka’ and ‘Inshuti Nyanshuti.’

He is also a member of Moriah Entertainment Group, a local gospel entertainment company which supports upcoming musicians.
