THE head of Rwanda’s Paralympic committee Dominique Bizimana has paid glowing tribute to the national men and women teams after their World Cup victories.

Rwanda finished as double winners after claiming both titles in Kampala.

The men’s team edged Germany 21-20 in a thrilling contest while their female counterparts had a much easier ride after trouncing hosts Uganda 33-8.

Speaking to Times Sport from Kampala, Bizimana who captained the men’s team was ecstatic describing his fellow teammates as incredible following a successful campaign in the five-day event.

"Let me use this opportunity to thank the players for flying Rwanda’s flag high in the tournament. The guys were simply incredible,” he said.

"It is the first time an African team has won the World Cup so it is a great achievement for Rwanda.”

The contingent returned yesterday evening and was welcomed by Sports Minister Joseph Habineza at Sports View Hotel.
