BRAZZAVILLE - President Paul Kagame, yesterday, began a two day visit to the Republic of Congo. On arrival in Brazzaville, the President was received by his counterpart, President Denis Sassou Nguesso who was accompanied by senior members of his government.

On arrival in Brazzaville, the President was received by his counterpart, President Denis Sassou Nguesso who was accompanied by senior members of his government.
The programme for the State Visit includes private talks between the two Heads of State, as well as official talks between the Rwandan delegation and their Congolese counterparts.
The talks are expected to centre around trade, transport as well as the issue related to Rwandan refugees who have been living in the country for the last 16 years.
The Congolese government has requested the Rwandan refugees to return home because there was peace in Rwanda. It was announced during the visit that the national carrier, Rwandair, would soon begin flights to Brazzaville.
On Monday, President Kagame is scheduled to address a joint session of both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies that make up the Congolese Congress.
Accompanying President Kagame, on the State visit, are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, the Minister of Trade and Commerce, Monique Nsanzabaganwa, theMinister of Disaster Management and Refugees, Gen. Marcel Gatsinzi, the Minister of State in charge of Energy and Water, Collette Ruhamya, as well as Senator Augustin Iyamuremye and Hon. Mukayuhi Rwaka.
President Kagame last visited Congo in 2004 as a guest of President Sassou Nguesso at the 44th Independence celebrations held in the port city of Pointe Noire.
