A delegation of Rwandan Members of Parliament, Senators, Ambassadors, members of the Unity and Reconciliation Commission, businessmen and communication experts have just completed a European tour.

The visit was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a specific mission of strengthening links with the Rwandan Diaspora; portray a true image of Rwanda to the foreign media, as well as deepen ties with the various countries visited.

According to a press statement issued from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation led by MP Ezéchias Rwabuhihi, held a press conference with prominent media houses in Paris including Afrique-Asie, Radio France Internationale, France Télévision, Le Monde newspaper, France 24, Charlie Hebdo, and independent journalists, at which they answered a number of queries about Rwanda.

"On Friday, November 5, the delegation first met with the President of France-Rwanda Parliamentarian Group, Marylise Lebrancu, then with the Deputy Director for Africa and Indian Ocean Department in French Foreign Affairs, Olivier Chambard and finally with Andre Parant, Diplomatic Adviser Manager in charge of Africa, in French President’s Office,” reads the statement.

The discussions focused on domestic policy, geopolitics and international politics, including the UN Mapping Exercise Report on the violations of human rights in the DR Congo, the methodological flaw and the pernicious nature of its contents.

The statement adds the discussions and debates clarified a number of issues at times distorted by international press about Africa and Rwanda, in particular, particularly about the recent presidential elections.

"The visit of the Rwandan delegation has been in any case, highly appreciated by French officials, who saw it as a step towards strengthening relations between the two countries. The visit will have been on another level, an opportunity for Ambassador Jacques Kabale, to recall the promise made early January by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, to create a pole of investigating judges and investigators specializing in Genocide issues, promises that would facilitate the arrest of alleged perpetrators of the crime of Genocide against the Tutsi”.

The delegation’s mission ended on November 6 with a meeting with the Diaspora and friends of Rwanda.
