KIGALI - Lt. Gen. Charles Muhire, the former Chief of Staff of the Air Force, who was arrested and suspended from duty in April, is no longer under house arrest but is currently being detained at Kanombe Military Police, The New Times has established.

When contacted yesterday, Army and Defense Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Jill Rutaremara, on Sunday confirmed reports.

"It really doesn’t mean much. He has been under house arrest, but the only difference now is that he has been relocated to Kanombe,” Rutaremara said, but declined to comment further on the matter.

According to military sources, the former Chief of Staff of the Air Force was arrested for alleged corruption and misuse of office.
