Flower farmers’ loan is from Spanish bank

It has emerged that the Rwanda Farmers’ Association sourced a $15m (Frw8.1b) loan from a Spanish bank.

It has emerged that the Rwanda Farmers’ Association sourced a $15m (Frw8.1b) loan from a Spanish bank.  

Earlier reports stated that the government was to give flower growers the funds. Vincent Karega, minister in charge of industry and investment promotion, has said that the government facilitated the acquisition of the loan. T

he government also took part in acquiring loan-risk insurance.

The loan will be used to develop 50 acres of green houses for flowers, said Karega. He added that government will continue to be involved since is committed to the horticulture industry.
