APR’s lead at the top of the Primus National Football League (PNFL) table is down to four points following Etincelles’ 3-1 win over Marines.
Etincelles, who are warming up for the 2011 Orange Confederation Cup, continued to prove that last season’s runner up finish was no fluke, as they thrashed their Western Province counterparts yesterday.
Claver Muhire, Mohamed Ngabonzima and Clavier Nkuriza scored the goals to propel Etincelles to 11 points, and create a two point gap with Rayon Sport and Police who lost ground after stalemates.
In the Southern Province, Amagaju registered their second victory of the season after a 1-0 win over visitors Mukura.
At Nyamirambo’s regional stadium, newly promoted La Jeunesse continued to make their presence felt in the top flight after holding six time champions Rayon Sport to a goalless draw.
On Saturday, Dady Birori dominated headlines after scoring a hat trick in SC Kiyovu’s 3-0 away win against Muhanga.
The Amavubi Stars forward grabbed the opener in the first minute of the game and doubled the lead 19 minutes later to leave the score 2-0 at half time.
After recess, the former Atraco man wrapped up his hat-trick, with a brilliant strike on the 60th minute to seal victory for the green baggies.
He becomes the first player this season to score a hat trick. Jean Marie Ntagwabira was pleased with the result considering the fact that he was without four of his key players in Godfrey Katerega, Berch Bawuma and the Burundian duo of Fuadi Ndayisenga and Hussein Mbanze.
APR maintained their 100 per cent start this season thanks to Jean Baptista Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi’s 70th minute strike that sealed a 1-0 win over Musanze.
