Dady Birori was on fire as he bagged a hat trick for SC Kiyovu against home side Muhanga on the fifth day of the Primus National Football League played on Saturday.
The Amavubi Stars forward grabbed the opener on the first minute of the game and doubled the lead on 20th minute before going into recess on a 2-0 lead.
After recess, the former Atraco man wrapped up his hat-trick, with a brilliant strike on 60th minute to earn the old giants maximum points. He becomes the first of any player this season to score a hat trick.
Jean Marie Ntagwabira played without his key players including Ugandan born defender Godfrey Katerega, DR Congo’s Berch Bawuma, and Burundian duo of Fuadi Ndayisenga and Hussein Mbanze.
For the first time this season, Ntagwabira appreciated a collective team effort from his troops. He said, "They played the kind of football that I wanted, and that was satisfying. The team is responding to our game plan and this is a good move.”
Leaders, APR maintained the lead at the standings of the PNFL with a 1-0 victory away to Musanze in Northern Province. Jean Baptista Mugiraneza struck the winner on 70th minute to extend the military’s unbeaten record in the 2010/11 Primus league.
Elsewhere, AS Kigali was held to a 2-all draw by Police yesterday at Nyamirambo stadium.
Action continues today when Rayon Sport visits La Jeunesse at Nyamirambo stadium, as Amagaju entertains Mukura in Southern Province derby.
In Gisenyi, Etincelles will play Marines in another thrilling derby. Etincelles is jointly placed on third sport with 8 points alongside Rayon Sport.
After the fifth day, APR maintains lead the at the summit of PNFL standings with 15 points while Police has assumed second spot with 9 points while Etincelles and Rayon Sport share third spot with eight points respectively. Muhanga is stuck bottom on the table pointless in five matches splayed.
