The latest one about the horrific life and miraculous rescue of the 150 Tutsi, at St. Paul, during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
"I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t easy for me to complete this book because of the emotions, but I persisted and finished it,” he said.
He noted that the book will keep the memories of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, adding that it was a tribute to the Rwandans who were brutally killed from St. Paul.
"It was also a challenge for me to write the book, because, I had to gather testimonies from various survivors who were at St. Paul,” Kubana added.
The ceremony was held, this week, at Ikirezi Library, and was attended by Government officials, including Emmanuel Bugingo from MINISPOC, Senator Antoine Mugesera and Kadafi Aimable, a representative from CNLG.
Other participants included: Genocide survivors, who were at St. Paul.
The book was published by AFADE Publications Company in Kigali, and was sponsored by CNLG in conjunction with MINISPOC. It has 4000 copies and each copy is sold at Rwf 6,500.
Speaking at the event, Kubana said that the Kinyarwanda book will be translated to English and French.
Bugingo appreciated Kubana for releasing a novel about his testimony, how he survived the Genocide, and encouraged other survives to do the same.
"Genocide survivors should write books about their own testimonies and not wait for foreigners to write books about the 1994 Genocide, basing on false testimonies by Genocide fugitives,” Bugingo said.
He added that the Ministry of Culture and Sports is willing to support Genocide survivors and other Rwandans, who want to write books.
Senator Antoine Mugesera encouraged the authors to translate their books to English and French to have a wider range of market.
So far, Kubana, 34, has written three novels. His debut best-selling novel: ‘Urukundo n’ibigeragezo’ with three series and a play, while his second novel, ‘Iraha ry’akanya gato’ won an award for the ‘Best Book’ in the AMANI 2008 festival film.
