ELIAS Uzamukunda, a.k.a Baby, will have to wait a little longer before featuring for Amavubi, Times Sport has learnt.

Early this week, the striker was pre-selected by Amavubi head coach, Sellas Tetteh, for next Wednesday’s international friendly against Malawi, but his club AS Cannes is reluctant to release him following injuries to three of their top strikers, Jan Koller, Lilian Compan and Albert Emon.

Tetteh says that the French third division side has made it clear that Baby is not available until after Christmas season.

The two sides will use the friendly as a build-up to the upcoming Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, which kicks off at the end of this month.

On top of regulars Kenya, Burundi, Sudan, Zanzibar, Ethiopia, Somalia, defending champions Uganda and hosts Tanzania, the tournament will also attract three guest teams in Zambia, Ivory Coast and Malawi.

The top two teams in each group and the best two qualifiers from all the three groups will progress to the quarter finals.

Serengeti Breweries are the official sponsors after splashing $450,000 (approx. Rwf263m) in the event which will run from November 27 – December 13.
