RWANDA Television (RTV) has secured broadcasting rights for the upcoming Senior Challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Cecafa’s Secretary General, Nicholas Musonye, yesterday, revealed to Times Sport that the body had reached an agreement with RTV.

"They (RTV) are expected to pay $20000 (approx.Rwf11.7m) so as to broadcast the games,” the official said.

By press time, efforts of get a comment from the national broadcaster were futile. South Africa based DStv have the pay-per-view rights for the region.

Rwanda, who are drawn in Group B, open their campaign against Ivory Coast on November 28 before playing Zanzibar and Sudan respectively.

Group C has reigning champions Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and guest side Malawi while Group A pits hosts Tanzania against Burundi, Somalia and Zambia.

The top two teams and the best two qualifiers from all the three groups will progress to the last eight.

Serengeti Breweries are the official sponsors after splashing $450,000 (approx. Rwf263m) into the tournament.

For the likes of Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Uganda and Sudan, the event is a good platform for January’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) which will be hosted in Khartoum, Sudan.
