NYAGATARE — Three people including a cell official were this week arrested in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found dumped in a valley dam.

Shocked residents of Cyabayaga cell, Nyagatare Sector found the body of Joseline Nyiranvugo, 45, a resident of Rukomo Sector dumped in the waters of Cyabayaga rice valley dam.

Cell officials allege that the assailants trailed the deceased from Cyabayaga ISAR research centre where she was working as a casual laborer, to the nearby Cyabayaga valley dam and hacked her to death before dumping the body in the water.

Residents who reached at the dam said they found the body with fresh clots of blood in the forehead an indication that the deceased may have been hacked before dumping the body in water.

The suspects currently held at Gatunda police station were identified as Eric Kazungu a motorcyclist, Emmanuel Murenzi, Cyabayaga cell official and Ibrahim Kaitale. Geoffrey Mushaija, the Sector executive secretary said that the murder was still a mystery.
