HUYE — Hundreds of residents in Ngoma sector braved the scotching sun at Huye stadium to celebrate this years’ Heroes’ Day.
The celebrations were marked by a march led by workers from different organisations in the district and school children.
The Ngoma Sector advisory council president Polycarp Nyetera, called upon residents to embrace development activities as indicated in this year’s theme "Heroism in development.”
He said: "We should all strive to emulate heroes in whatever we do. We should foster economic development, good governance, Security and fight Genocide ideology.”
During the same occasion Sectors’ traditional group- Intore- were awarded certificates by the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission for their role in unifying residents and mobilising communities for development.
The Sector executive secretary Assumpta Ingabire hailed the Sectors’ Intore christened Abadahigwa for their contribution to development.
"This group is determined to spearhead development in the Sector. We hope that they will live to be our heroes in the Sector,” said Ingabire.
