KIGALI - The Muslim community in Kigali has been called upon to actively participate in promoting hygiene and the planting of trees within the city. The call was made yesterday by MP Saidat Mukanoheri, during the ongoing city beautification campaign. Yesterday’s event was jointly organized by the Rwanda Muslim Association (AMUR) and Kigali City Council (KCC).
KIGALI - The Muslim community in Kigali has been called upon to actively participate in promoting hygiene and the planting of trees within the city.
The call was made yesterday by MP Saidat Mukanoheri, during the ongoing city beautification campaign.
Yesterday’s event was jointly organized by the Rwanda Muslim Association (AMUR) and Kigali City Council (KCC).
It took place at Kacyiru Mosque in Gasabo District where over a hundred trees were planted.
The city beautification exercise coincides with the nationwide tree-planting week that kicked off on Monday.
"First of all, we should thank our President Paul Kagame for his endless efforts towards promoting hygiene and the social welfare of every Rwandan in the country,” Mukanoheli said.
"But I encourage you Muslims as God’s servants, to always heed our President’s advice which also includes promoting general cleanliness around the country”.
Kigali City Mayor, Dr Aisa Kirabo Kacyira,
commended the Muslims for the good relationship they have with KCC and asked them to continue collaborating with all stakeholders during the city beautification month and beyond.
While at the Mosque, Kirabo planted two trees in its compound before she and the lawmaker toured various facilities in the mosque.
