Dear Editor,
The recently released national exams leave a lot to be desired. Even with Ministry of Education and the Rwanda National Examination Council’s decision to lower the pass mark to 38 percent, still, several schools cannot measure up to the standards.
Many students even performed worse than last year. Just as an example, all P.6 students who sat for exams in ESM Secondary in Kibungo sector failed. Even for the schools that emerged as winners, I believe that they can still do better than they actually performed.
The poor performance is rather disturbing. Should the poor performance be blamed on the teachers, students, parents or the whole education system?
The cause of perpetual poor performance in schools in Rwanda should be established and a solution be found before Rwanda starts producing parrots instead of academicians.
