Tree planting policy highly commendable

Editor,

Allow me to congratulate the Government of Rwanda for coming up with the national tree planning policy.
An initiative that will see over 44 million trees planted countrywide during the tree planting exercise, which kicks off today, is a great stride in conservation efforts.

Trees are necessary to prevent soil erosion, restore ecological balance of all eco systems as well as maintaining bio diversity.

I really appreciate the Government’s efforts to make Rwanda a wonderful place to be, particularly with several conservation activities, worth emulating by other countries.

So far this is the best method to reduce the green house effect and prevent floods and as well as safeguard the lives of the people from global warming.

Tree planting also is a beautiful supplement to our landscape for decades, possibly centuries to come, they add colour and texture to the peoples’ yards.

I encourage all Rwandans to participate in this noble cause.
