The internationally acclaimed ‘Africa United’ movie, last evening, premiered on the African continent, with its launch in Kigali. The movie is a demonstration of the existence of unexploited potential of young Rwandans, which if tapped, can change the face of Rwanda’s budding movie industry.

‘Africa United’, which has already been screened to large audiences in the UK and Canada, represents a new way of telling the African story from an African perspective.
The movie is testimony to the fact that Hillywood has come of age. The local film industry has endured a long journey, but with their latest movie, the best is yet to come.

One of the indications that ‘Africa United’ has brought a new dawn to Hillywood is the fact that international critics have already given a positive review to the film. 

That the movie premiered to an audience of top leaders in this country should inspire all Rwandans to watch locally made movies, starting today when the movie will be screened at Amahoro National Stadium.

That the cast of the movie were plucked from obscurity to stardom shows the extent of the unexploited potential of the local movie industry that awaits young Rwandans.
While Government has demonstrated its full support, it’s incumbent upon private investors, both local and foreign, to seize the opportunity and take the industry to the next level.

The larger community also should help nurture potential actors and actresses by encouraging the youth to showcase their acting abilities. Go for the Gold, Hillywood.
