RWANDA’S professional golfer Jean Baptista Hakizimana is edging closer to winning this year’s Rwanda Open golf championship which comes to a climax today.
Hakizimana managed a level par-72 on the third day of the lucrative championship to maintain lead of 211 at the leader board.

Hakizimana also hit a 4-under 68 on the opening day of the championship before managing a one- under 71 on the second day.

The 24-year-old goes into the final day as favourite winner to scoop this year’s edition of Rwanda Open championship.
He said yesterday, "Am in-front of Akope with three points. I am focused and I won’t let my lead slip away just like that. I will put on a brave fight in tomorrow’s (today) final.”
Uganda’s Deo Akope is in second position with 214 after a hitting a one-under 71. He played 74 and 69 in the past two days respectively.

Kenya’s Dismas Ndiza is third on the leader board with 216 and he posted a four-over 74 yesterday but had a wonderful start too where he notched 73 and 69 respectively.

The other Rwandan Emmanuel Ruterana also put on a good show where he jumped seven places to finish on eighth spot with 224 after posting a two-under 70 yesterday.

After the Rwanda Open, golfers will be gearing up for the East African Challenge in which Uganda will defending the title on the same 18-hole course.
