The National Coordinator for the Rwanda Health Environment Project Initiative (RHEPI) James Rubakisibo has advised Ugandans to protect the River Nile for the sake of preserving the environment.

Rubakisibo, an environment scientist, was on Wednesday speaking to a group of more than 20 Ugandans who were on a study visit in Gatsibo District in the Eastern Province.
The one-day visit was aimed at developing strong networks and sharing of knowledge and experience among farmers in the countries.

Rubakisibo urged Ugandans to fight any kind of water pollution that would endanger the environment. He emphasized the importance of protecting the River Nile, warning that if Nile waters are polluted it results into deaths.

He advised the visiting group to fight the habit of cutting trees for the good of their lives. He urged that advice from the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI)  be taken for effective environmental education. The NBI supports both Rwanda Health Initiative (RHEPI) and Mirama Hill Community Development on environmental activities.
