Born along the Kivu Lake, DeRuta was raised alongside his grandparents, who to this day are his symbol of love and generosity. From the age of 10, DeRuta felt the passion of music in his veins, drawing his inspiration from R&B, Zouk and Reggae.
At 13 years old, DeRuta began to DJ at the Groupe Scolaire de Rambura, and afterward at the Groupe Scolaire St André in Kigali. In Rambura, he became the lead singer of the school band and performed in public for the first time at the school inauguration. In Kigali, he spent time learning from the country’s most popular DJs, later receiving offers to perform his songs in clubs.
However, despite his natural talents in music, DeRuta’s entrepreneurially focused parents initiated him into the world of business. As a teen, DeRuta released his first album "Umutima Wanjye”, which was an instant success.
He began performing before large audiences, in addition to winning the coveted contest "Découverte” on TVR.
After moving to Canada, DeRuta immersed himself in Hip-Hop and R&B, and pursued his studies in Business and Logistics. Recently he decided to return to his musical roots and destiny, and he is currently working on two albums: "Je Partirai Avec Toi” recorded in French and "Narose Uza”.
