KIGALI - Following the launch of ‘Beautifying My Kigali,’ late last month, aimed at creating hygienic and a greener city, the activities were yesterday carried out in Nyamirambo, Nyarugenge District.

City and Nyarugenge authorities headed by KCC Mayor, Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, joined hundreds of residents in putting up pavements along the newly constructed Nyamirambo road from the city centre and planting grass and flowers.

Jean d’Arc Gakuba, Kigali City vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, said that the Nyamirambo activities also aimed at mobilizing residents to be part of the exercise.

"We need everyone in Kigali city to take part in these activities and also protect the infrastructure in the area,” Gakuba noted.

The activities expected to last a month, will today be carried out in Nyabugogo, one of the areas in the city known to be unhygienic.

Gakuba said that pavements will also be constructed in Nyabugogo as a way of fighting dust, and dustbins put along the road.
