Traffic Police complete training

MUSANZE - 20 traffic officers from the Rwanda National Police, Friday completed a two weeks training on road safety management and accident investigations, at the National Police Academy in Musanze District.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Butera, the training organised by the Rwanda National Police and supported by GTZ, aimed at equipping participants with skills of prevention of accidents and monitoring safety of vehicles.

ACP Butera commended GTZ’s continued support through capacity building and called upon the police officers who completed the training to disseminate the knowledge attained to other officers.

"Such training should help reduce accidents and ensure that the related investigations are well handled,’’ Butera said.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Micheal Luffingham, the Regional Coordinator of GTZ Police project, said that the training was in the spirit of supporting operational capacities of the police.

He added that the training promotes professionalism, especially regarding road safety and prevention of accidents,.

The training was conducted by trainers from the National Police, Germany, UK, Sweden, as well as Kenya and S. Africa.
