SOUTHERN PROVINCE MUHANGA — Over thirty residents in Nyarusange sector were on Wednesday honored with certificates of merit for being exemplary in achieving the 2007 Sector performance contracts.

MUHANGA — Over thirty residents in Nyarusange sector were on Wednesday honored with certificates of merit for being exemplary in achieving the 2007 Sector performance contracts.
The 35 residents were recognised by the Sector leaders during the evaluation of the 2007 Sectors’ performance contracts.
They include best farmers, entrepreneurs, educationalists, innovators creative workers and community mobilisers among others.
The certificates were handed over by Fidel Fundi, the district director of good governance. The district officials commended the local leaders for establishing a prize scheme.
Fundi said: "Nyarusange has a potential of setting development ladder in the district and examples of good governance can be drawn from the area due to collaboration between local leaders and residents.”
Jean Claude Muhire, the Sector executive secretary told The New Times that their achievements were through the efforts and commitment of all residents.
"Residents have been proactive in economic transformation and the sector has achieved growth in areas of agriculture, education and tax collection.” Muhire said.
He added that the sector had the best students in the recently released primary leaving exams and is among the best sectors in Muhanga district.
Residents also noted that key areas of improving economic activities needed to be addressed by providing communication facilities, constructing roads and collaboration between residents and local leaders. He further stressed the need to curb genocide ideology.
The residents highly commended efforts to revive the cultural values and rebuilding the nation. They cited a Sector cultural club (umucyo n’uburere) that will coordinate its activities in building unity and developing cultural values.
Gonzague Rwigyema, one of the best farmers in the area urged other farmers to combine efforts and focus on specific development targets of transforming coffee growth.
He observed that "plans were underway to establish a coffee factory and farmers’ efforts would be paramount to transform the livelihood of residents.”
