APR’s hitman Abbas Rassou and his striking partner Victor Nyirenda have been ruled out of today’s Primus National Football League match with AS Kigali at Nyamirambo’s Regional Stadium.

Rassou, who scored the army side’s opener in last Sunday’s 2-1 win over SC Kiyovu, is sidelined with a knee injury while Nyirenda is suspended.

"Abbas has a niggling knee injury while Nyirenda and Hegman Ngoma are suspended,” APR’s assistant coach, Eric Nshimiyimana, confirmed.

This means the goal scoring task rests on the shoulders of Crespo Sebanani and Kabange Twite, who scored the side’s winner last Sunday.

"It is a great opportunity for Crespo to, once again, show what he can do. There is no doubt he is a quality player,” Nshimiyimana added.

Despite missing out on the preseason Primus Cup, the army side has enjoyed a good start in the PNFL. The eleven-time champions top the charts with nine points after winning their opening three matches against Mukura (1-0), Amagaju (1-0) and SC Kiyovu (2-1).

However, going by AS Kigali’s opening games, it will not be an easy ride for APR this weekend. The Kigali City Council side is still unbeaten after a run of two wins and a draw.
"We have had a good start and morale is high in the dressing room so we want to make the most of our form,” AS Kigali, Coach Thierry Hitimana said.

"The team has been playing better with every other game and we hope this run will continue, he added.”

Elsewhere, struggling Mukura host newly promoted La Jeunesse, Police play away to Marines while Muhanga and Amagaju faceoff in a bottom of the table clash.

Tomorrow, SC Kiyovu will look to kick start their league campaign when they host Musanze at Nyamirambo, while Rayon Sport will be tested by Etincelles at Amahoro stadium.
