RWANDA’s top football clubs Rayon Sport and APR will face-off on November 21 in memory of former radio 10 sports journalist Claver Shyaka.
Shyaka’s sudden death back in August caused shock waves in the sports fraternity and the country’s top sports administrators including Sports Minister Joseph Habineza and Ferwafa President Jean Bosco Kazura.
The Rayon-APR match will be preceded by a match between sports journalists and local artists. "The proceeds from the APR-Rayon match will be given to his widow. It is the least that we can do for our fallen comrade,” Didas Niyifasha, one of the organisers said.
Shyaka was one of the pioneer radio sports journalists on Rwanda’s private airwaves. He died on August 12 aged 32 years.
He is survived by a widow and one daughter.
