Who regulates these coaster buses?

Dear Editor,

I am a regular follower of news and I have seen a lot being written and said about road use in Rwanda. I am so proud of the job that the traffic police has been doing for the last few years, and I am in fact, trying to interest my eldest son to join the traffic police force.

However, of late, I have noticed something that has raised my concerns.  Though I am one of the very many people that were overjoyed when buses were introduced in Kigali, I have been left to wonder who hires these bus drivers and whether a periodical survey is done on how effective they are on our roads.

The careless maneuvers and the over speeding have not only left other drivers worried, but the passengers of the buses too.

I would like to request the Traffic Police force to look into the actions of these bus drivers and educate them about road safety. Time and again, drivers will have legal driving licenses but will once in a while lose their way and make mistakes, which can, unfortunately in this case, endanger the lives of others.

We are hoping for a positive response to this.
